OBITUARY for HARRY L. SHEARER
MIFFLINTOWN - Harry L. Shearer, 79, of 157 Wagner Road, Mifflintown, passed away at 11:25 a.m., Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at his home.
Harry was born July 17, 1932, in Walker Township, Juniata County, the son of the late John A. Shearer and Margaret (Ritzman) Shearer.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. (Murphy) Shearer, whom he married on July 7, 1956, at the late Rev. Ditmer's home.
Also surviving are his son, Donald L. Shearer and his wife Denise, of Mifflintown; his sister Mrs. Emma Jane Hosler and her husband James, of Port Royal; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John A. Shearer.
Harry was a retired farmer and sawmiller. He was a Walker Township supervisor for 30 years and was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m., at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating.
Interment will be at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, at the funeral home.
