Sandra S. "Sandy" McClure, 86, formerly of Old Port, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at Greenwood Village, formerly Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.
She was born Dec. 25, 1935, in Millerstown.
She is survived by three daughters, Melanie M. Berrier and husband, Scott, of Port Royal, Mylene M. Zimmerman Yoder and husband, Brad, of Allensville, and Marian M. Mark and husband, Richard, of Port Royal, two grandchildren, Jared G. Berrier and wife, Brittany, and Jillian E. Mark and companion, Darin Love, two great-grandchildren, Lennox A. Berrier and Wynsloe V. Berrier, and one sister, Shirley Weibley of Millerstown.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 55 years, James L. "Jim" McClure, on Dec. 5, 2012, her parents, David G. and Marian (Pines) Shade, one sister, Jacqueline Magill, and a son-in-law, Edward A. "Eddie" Zimmerman.
She graduated from Kutztown University in 1957 and received a Master?s Degree from Penn State.
Sandy was a talented artist who was an art teacher in the Juniata Co. School District for 30 years and was involved with painting play scenery, sports props, and numerous school projects as well as helping with art projects in the community.
She and her husband owned and operated McClure's Flowers from 1977 to 1984 and McClure?s Evergreens for 50 years.
She was a member of Port Royal United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Port Royal Literary Guild, Mifflin chapter No. 260 O.E.S., and Turbett Grange.
She enjoyed scrapbooking, painting, reading, doing crossword puzzles and sudoku, putting puzzles together, traveling, especially to the beach, and was always ready for a good Rummikub or card game.
Her funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 6, at Port Royal United Methodist Church, corner of Market and Fifth Streets, Port Royal, with Pastor Crystal Baumgardner officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
There will be a viewing from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services on Sunday at the church.
To honor Sandy's love of color, please wear bright colors to her service.
