OBITUARY for JOHN A. WELSHONSE, JR

John A. Welshonse, Jr., 77, of Thompsontown, passed away at 12:57 PM, Monday, October 14, 2024 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.

Born on May 28, 1947 in Derry Twp., Mifflin County, he is a son of the late John A. “Jack” Sr. and E. Margaret “Peg” (Rice) Welshonse.

On April 15, 1972, he married his surviving wife, Jane M. (Fisher) Welshonse with whom he was blessed to share over 52 years of marriage before his passing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by many generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, F. Scott Welshonse and Timothy Welshonse.

Mr. Welshonse was a 1965 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School and honorably served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

In earlier life, John was employed with Glenn H. Brower; then was employed at Shaffer Trucking; next, he was employed with Triangle Pacific; and after that was employed with Fenner Trucking; Lastly, he was employed and retired from Marstellar Concrete in 2013.

He enjoyed hunting, shooting, reading, and sudoku puzzles.

All Services will be private with interment taking place at Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Welshonse’s memory can be made to the Juniata County Library, 498 Jefferson St., Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to R.O.F.F. (Rescue Our Furry Friends), P.O. Box 6, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
