John W. Towsey, 78, of Port Royal, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023 in Tuscarora in the home where he was born.
Born Jan. 30, 1945, in Turbett Township, he was a son of the late Herman “Jack” W. and Noreen (Fuller) Towsey.
He is survived by his wife, Gerri Kay (Wirt) Towsey, whom he married May 7, 1966, two sons, John R. Towsey and Douglas C. Towsey and wife, Rachel, one grandson, Justin Towsey, and one brother Donald J. Towsey and wife, Nancy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Herman C. Towsey.
John was a veteran of the Unted States Army, serving from 1962 to 1965.
He retired from the United States Postal Service.
He was a member of Port Royal Lutheran Church and a past commander and member of American Legion Post 298, Mifflintown.
He enjoyed racing and gardening.
His service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Sam Leister officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
