Arden Leach is a son of Charles P. and Marie Viola (Spaid) Leach. He married Kay Yvonne Crimmel and they lived in Port Royal much of their adult lives.

OBITUARY for ARDEN M. LEACH

PORT ROYAL - Arden M. Leach, 78, of Port Royal, died at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born on March 6, 1935, in Milford Township, Juniata County. Arden was the son of the late Charles P. and Marie V. (Spaid) Leach.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Y. (Crimmel) Leach, whom he married on Jan. 18, 1959.

Also surviving are: his son, Arthur R. Leach and wife, Sophie W. Penney, of State College; two grand-children; one great-grandson; a brother, Earl Leach, of Bend, Ore.; and a sister, Alice Brooks, of Orlando, Fla.

Arden was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Leach, and a sister, Violet Hill.

Mr. Leach was a 1953 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, of Mifflintown. He was a peacetime veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Early in his life, he was a lineman. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the Port Royal Post Office, retiring after 37 years of service. He also worked part time at The Port Royal Times in the printing department.

He was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the VFW Post #5863, and the American Legion Post No. 298, both of Mifflintown. He also belonged to the Marine Corps League, as well as Trout Unlimited.

Previously, he served on the Port Royal Borough Council and the Port Royal Municipal Authority.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at the Rex Funeral Home in Port Royal, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, with the Juniata County Veteran's Council conducting full military services.

The viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Port Royal United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 396, Port Royal, PA 17082 or to the Juniata County Food Pantry, 114 N. Main St., Mifflintown, PA 17059-1005.
