John W. Dalton, 89, of Tuscarora, Port Royal, died 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at home.
Born February 3, 1926 in Turbett Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Fay M. (Hockenberry) Dalton.
Surviving are: his wife, Connie K. (Leister) Dalton, whom he married on March 24, 1972.
Also surviving are four children, John W. Dalton, Jr. and wife Kelly of Millerstown, Tammy Varner of Lewistown, Melody Leister of Mifflintown and Faye Leach and husband Clifford of Honey Grove, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a sister Betty Klaise and husband Jim of Port Royal.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Shelly, Stewart and Melvin and two sisters, Mabel Whistler and Esther Grott, and a granddaughter, Mikyla Dalton.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, a Korean War Army veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, with the Rev. Charles Sheaffer officiating. Military honors will be awarded by the Juniata County Veteran's Council.
Arrangements are under the care of Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal.
