MIFFLINTOWN - Gerald A. "Jerry" "Pap" Lehman, 70, 198 Lehman Drive, Mifflintown, passed away at 10:01 a.m., on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at his home, with his family at his bedside.
Born on March 25, 1941, in Hawstone, Mifflin County, Gerald was the son of the late Nevin R. and Margaret (Dolin) Lehman.
His wife, Mary M. (Henry) Lehman, whom he married July 27, 1962, survives.
Gerald is also survived by a daughter, Greta A. Leister, and husband Marc, of Mifflintown; two granddaughters, Ashlee M. and Mariah A. Leister, both of Mifflintown; two brothers, George and John Lehman, both of Port Royal; a sister, Dorothy Gilliland, and husband Robert, of Mifflintown and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lehman.
Gerald was a 1960 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal. He worked for Ethyl Corp., Mechanicsburg, for 30 years as a metallurgist; for Jackson Wheel Barrel, Harrisburg; for Albert Gray's Pallets, Mifflintown and for the Juniata County School District as a custodian.
He was a member of the Tuscarora Church of the Brethren.
Gerald was a Vietnam veteran, having served as a sergeant in the 3rd Infantry Division.
He loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed bow hunting for buck and telling his friends about his granddaughters' accomplishments.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, June 4, at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Charles Sheaffer and Pastor Gary Krabill officiating.
Interment will be held at the Old Church Hill cemetery in Port Royal.
The viewing will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Friday, June 3, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Walker Township Recreation Park, 9698 William Penn Highway, Thompsontown, PA 17094.
Graveside military services will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
