John C. Kepner, 80, of 106 Tuscarora St., Port Royal, died Sunday, April 17, 1988 at his home.
He was born September 1, 1907 in Mifflintown, a son of the late Foster C. and Martha, J. (Walters) Kepner. His first wife, Gertrude M. (Smith) Kepner, died December 27, 1969. His second wife, Helen M. (Varnes Wharton) Kepner, died September 25, 1987.
Surviving are children, Bradford E. Kepner of Hershey, Donald A. Kepner, David L. Kepner, both of Port Royal, Gerald K. Kepner of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Charles (Bernice) James of Chambersburg, Mrs. Frank (Andrea) Aron of Long Valley, N.J.; step-children, Beverly Brackbill of Port Royal RD1, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Kahley of Montgomery RD2, Mrs. Alan (Mary) Ford of McClure RD 1, Charles W. Wharton of East Waterford I RD1; sisters, Rebecca Singer of I Mifflintown and Helen Fleisher of Mexico; 10 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John R. Kepner on March 11, 1931, a brother and a sister.
He retired in 1972 from the tire fabric division of the American Viscose Corp. Lewistown.
He was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, and a life member of the Friendship Fire Company, Port Royal.
Services were held at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. John K. Whitcomb officiating. Interment was in the Adams Cemetery, Walker Township, Juniata Co., PA
