Esrher Russell Pomeroy was the youngest of four children of Darwin C. and Esther (Russell) Pomeroy. She was born March 30, 1923 and died April 1, 1980. She married Abner Reed Hayes and they had six children: William, A. Reed Jr., Pamela, Rebecca, Anne, and Elizabeth.
