OBITUARY for HARRY R. ‘BUD’ MOYER
PORT ROYAL: Harry R. "Bud" Moyer, 87, of Route 35 South, Port Royal, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at Locust Grove Retirement Village.
Born June 3, 1924, in Beale Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Harry N. and Anna "Minnie" (Kerchner) Moyer. His wife, Jessie M. (Robinson) Moyer, died April 9, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Jerome Moyer, and one sister, Mary Yoder.
He is survived by: three children, Brenda Klawitter and husband, Ken, of York, Donald R. Moyer and wife, Marjorie, of Carlisle, and Randall S. Moyer and wife, Mary Lou, of Duncannon; one sister, Isabel Yoder, of Mifflintown; six grandchildren; and four great-grand- children.
Bud graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1942 and was a farmer all his life.
He was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Nook Hunting Camp and Walnut Grange. He was a past fire chief of Beale Township Fire Co. and served on several agricultural boards.
He was an all-around handyman and enjoyed farming, hunting, woodworking, four-wheeling, traveling on bus trips, eating breakfast with the McDonald's gang and spending time with his family and his dog, Penny.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 15275 Route 35 S., Mifflin, with the Rev. Charles Hershberger officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the services at the church.
