OBITUARY for VIOLET LEONARD GILSON
VIOLET LEONARD GILSON, 91, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67, Mifflin, formerly of Port Royal RR2, died at 8:25 p.m. Monday, March 4, 1996, at Locust Grove.
Born February 13, 1905, in Denholm, she was a daughter of the late Norman Blaine and Ida Viola [Rapp] Leonard. Her husband, Neal S. Gilson, died June 1, 1989.
Surviving are: a daughter, Margaret G. Crawford, Mifflintown; brothers and sisters, Blaine L. Leonard, McAlisterville, Charles A. Leonard, Elizabethtown, Robert B. Leonard, Concord, NC, Mrs. John [Joy] Longenecker and Mrs. Helen Wert, both of Port Royal, Mrs. James [Minnie] Sunderland, Altoona; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Neal "Stu" Gilson Jr., three brothers, Alvin Leonard, Samuel Leonard and Norman Leonard and five sisters, Beulah E. Gilliland, Ruth Partner, Blanche Powell, Gertrude Davis and V. Lucille Long.
She was a retired seamstress, having worked for the former Rae-Sel Corp., Port Royal. She was a member of Port Royal United Presbyterian Church.
Services were held Thursday at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Rev. Claude Baublitz and Rev. James R. Sunderland Jr. officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
