Clarence was Police Chief in Port Royal from 1990 to 1996. Mr. Allen formed a committe and started the Old Home Foliage Days that is currently ongoing. Mr. Allen worked closely with John Longnecker who was the Mayor of Port Royal. He was dedicated to the residents of Port Royal.

OBITUARY for CLARENCE L. ALLEN

Clarence L. Allen, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022 at his home near Mifflintown.

He was born Dec. 2, 1952 in Huntingdon.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry A. (Jones) Allen whom he married Dec. 7, 1986, one daughter, Mandy L. Allen and companion, Bill Misal of Port Royal, one step-son, Corey R. Jones and wife, Isabel, of Mifflintown, four grandchildren, Landon C. Millar, Christian Jones, Kolby Dean, and Skyann Jones, and seven siblings, Paul Allen and wife, Darlene, Dave Allen and wife, Teresa, Rebecca Hollabaugh, Connie Secrest and husband, Dennis, Barbara Jessloski and husband, Stan, Vera Crist and husband, Barry, and Bonnie Stephany and husband, Ray.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul L. and Betty (Smith) Allen, and one brother, Gary Allen.

Clarence graduated from Mt. Union Area High School and the State Police Academy.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was Chief of Police for 32 years in Port Royal Borough, Walker Township, and Mifflin Borough. He worked as a Juniata County deputy sheriff, Dispatcher, and Jail Guard in 1989, as an Air Police Officer at HIA Airport, and as a Federal Police Officer at Ft Indiantown Gap and the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg until he retired on disability in 2008.

He was a member of American Legion Post #298, the Juniata County Veterans Council, and organized Military Appreciation Night, the post 9/11 First Responder Recognition night, and the Juniata County Veteran Day parades.

He was a life member of the Mifflin Fire Department, a board member of the Juniata County Agricultural Society, and a former Mifflin EMS driver and first aid and CPR instructor. He was very active with the Port Royal Speedway.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Journey Christian Church, 10110 William Penn Highway, Thompsontown, PA 17094 with Pastor Jerry Wise officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at the church and also on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
