Carlen McClure Is the eldest of three children of Harvey and Edna (McCahan) McClure. She is a graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School in the Class of 1965. She has a son, Steven. She spent much of her adult life as the owner and operator of Spruce Hill Lunch. After selling the Lunch she moved to "Town Lane" in Port Royal and from there to 8050 Mountain Road in the same town.
Carlen writes a column for The Times of Port Royal newspaper. The column is currently titled "View From the Mountain", but was formerly titled "View from the Lunch" and "View from the Lane".
