Glenn Grafton Horning was one of three children of Harry G. and Lottie D. (Paden) Horning. He was born September 26, 1919 and operated Horning Oil Company in Port Royal most of his adult life.

OBITUARY for GLENN G. HORNING

PORT ROYAL - Glenn G. Horning, 92, of 913 Main St., Port Royal, died at 4:45 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.

Born Sept. 26, 1919, in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Harry G. and Lottie (Paden) Horning.

He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Pauline E. (Ehrenzeller) Horning, on April 5, 1950; his second wife, Ruth (Kline) Horning, on Aug. 25, 1997; a daughter, Doris J. Shaw, on Dec. 9, 2003; and two sisters, Helen Armstrong and Mae Auker.

He is survived by: his son, Richard G. Horning, of P.O. Box 35, Mifflintown; four grandchildren, Frank L. Beers III, of Concord, N.C., Tracy L. Meifert, of Middletown, Richard G. "Richie" Horning II, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Michelle DiMidio, of State College; and six great-grandchildren.

Glenn was a former member of the Port Royal Lions Club and a graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown. He is a member of the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Academia, and Union Lodge 324 F.&A.M., Mifflintown.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Richard G. "Richie" Horning II officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
