OBITUARY for RICHARD L. ‘DICK’ MCCAHREN
Port Royal-Richard L. 'Dick' McCahren, 80, of Port Royal, died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Lewistown Hospital ER.
Born June 5, 1930 in Spruce Hill Township, he was a son of the late William C. and Kathryn A. (Towsey) McCahren.
He is survived by his wife, Faith M. (Whitesel) McCahren whom he married May 22, 1954, one daughter, Kathy A. Imes and husband, Robert, of Mifflin, two sons, Richard W. McCahren at home and Scott L. McCahren, of Lewistown, one sister, Lucille Cooper, of Port Royal, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, one daughter, Dianne, and one brother, Lawrence 'Bossie' McCahren.
He graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1947 and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a truck driver for 44 years, driving for Glenn Brower, Noerr and Inway.
He was a member of Port Royal Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 298.
Dick was an Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed gardening, working on the farm and NASCAR racing.
His funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Charles Hershberger officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal where military honors will be accorded by the Juniata Co. Veterans Council.
There will be a viewing Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
