Ralph H. Hoover Jr., 86, of Port Royal, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Jan. 21, 1935, in Windsor Park, York County, he was the only son of the late Ralph H. and Olive (Ruppert) Hoover Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann "Sue" Hoover, whom he married Oct. 27, 1956; two children, Thomas H. Hoover of Port Royal and Sally Lizardi and husband, Matthew, of Beavertown; five grandchildren, Sara Sweger and husband, Kurt, Luke Hoover, Jeremy Hoover, Brittany Hoover, and Benjamin Lizardi; and three great-grandchildren, Jakob Sweger, Jayde Sweger, and Mila Grace Hoover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Brian Warren Hoover.
He graduated from North York High School.
Ralph worked as a screen roller at New York Wire and ran the printing press at Standard Register, both in York, but his main occupation was being a dairy farmer.
He was a member of Port Royal Lutheran Church and was active in many local farming organizations.
Because of his dedication to farming, he didn't have time for a lot of hobbies, but after he retired, he and Sue enjoyed going on cruises.
His service will be private and held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Matthew Schuster officiating. Interment will be in in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
