OBITUARY for EVELYN J. LEYDER
PORT ROYAL — Evelyn J. Leyder, 76, of Eighth Street, Port Royal, died at 3:05 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2006, at Brookline Manor, RR 1, Mfflintown.
Born Oct. 25, 1929, in Mifflin, she was a daughter of the late Ralph A. and Mary E. (Sieber) Cargill.
She is survived by one daughter and two sons, Mrs. William R. (Elizabeth A.) Grace, Camp Hill, Donald W. Leyder Jr., Lithia Springs, Ga., David C. Leyder, Newport; one sister, Marilyn J. Cargill, Mifflintown; three grandchildren, William J. Grace and wife Lauren, New Cumberland, Marcus D. Grace and fiance Jen, New Cumberland, Karly E. Grace, at home; one step grandchild, Mikal L. Saenz and two step great-grandchildren, Justice A. Saenz and Hallie G. Saenz, all of Lithia Springs, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Leyder and her best friend, Ernie Smith.
Evelyn was a kind and loving daughter, sister, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She loved her cat Marlin and her children’s pets Dazy and Leroy. Evelyn enjoyed music, the Hershey Theater, Cape May, N.J.; shopping, her children, grandchildren and spending time with her dear sister Marilyn. She will be greatly missed.
She was a 1947 graduate of the Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal, and a 1950 graduate of the Harrisburg Polyclinic School of Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse from the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, and a life member of the Port Royal Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, June 1, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal, with the Rev. Carol A. Hertler officiating. Interment will be in Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown. A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 31, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal.
