Helen Bender was a daughter of Samuel E. and Viola M. (Bailor) Bender. She was a 1953 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School in Port Royal, PA. She was married to George W. Martin.

OBITUARY for HELEN M. MARTIN

Helen M. Martin, 81, of Lewistown, and formerly of Port Royal, went to be with the Lord at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at Brookline Manor.

Born Jan. 19, 1935, in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Viola Bender.

Her husband, George W. Martin, preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2012.

She is survived by: two sons, David E. Martin and wife, Deborah, of Port Royal, and Kenneth A. Martin, of Mifflin; one granddaughter, Brittany H. Martin; one great-granddaughter, Mariah G. Scott; and a sister, Esther Hockenberry, of Brookline Manor.

A sister, Lena Swartz, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Martin was a 1953 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal.

She worked as a Fuller Brush sales person in Juniata County.

Helen attended the Assembly of God churches in both Juniata and Mifflin Counties.

She enjoyed dining out, and also spending time with her family.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Pastors Thomas R. and Sandy E. Rudy officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery.

A viewing will take place from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home Wednesday.

Memorials in Helen's name may be made to American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin St. Ste 206, State College, PA 16803.
