OBITUARY for DORIS JANE SOLT

Doris J. Solt, 88, of Lewistown, passed away at 2:45 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Belleville.

Born Aug. 23, 1935, in Port Royal, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Clara Belle (Hart) Naylor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: husband, Edwin C. Solt on Aug. 7, 2006; daughter, Sonya Kay Solt on July 2, 1959; brother, John Naylor; and brothers-in-law, Harry Fulton and Walter Boyer.

Doris is survived by: daughters, Pama Jo Setzler and husband, Samuel, of McVeytown, and Kathy Jo Hostetler and husband, Walter, of Belleville; four grandchildren, Chris Setzler and wife, Arleigh, Chad Setzler and wife, Michaela, Lance Hostetler and wife, Lauren, and Samuel C. Setzler Jr. “Sonnie” and wife, Katie; five great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Luke and Theodore Setzler and John and Katherine Murphy; sisters, Cora Boyer, of Texas, Belva Fulton, of Port Royal, and Thelma Haubert and husband, Ty, of Fla.; and sister-in-law, Nancy Naylor, of Chambersburg.

She was a [1953] graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School.

Doris worked at Ohesson Manor from 1981 to 2000, Community Resources for Independence (CRI), Lewistown, from 2001 to 2006, and retired from Tressler Lutheran Services.

Doris was a member of Ellen Chapel Church. She loved mowing her grass and working in her garden, cooking and sewing. Her family was her pride and joy, especially her great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.

The graveside service will begin at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at the Old Church Hill Cemetery in Port Royal. Following interment, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., at Ellen Chapel Church, 11764 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, with Reverend Mark Hill and Pastor Tyler Covert officiating.
