Joanne U. "Joanie" Allen, 88 of Belleville, went to Heaven to be with her Savior on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on April 22, 1936 in Port Royal, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Addison and Christina Rebecca (Long) Ulsh.
For many years, Joanne worked at The Ben Franklin Store and was known by many throughout Juniata County. She was the type of person to spark up a conversation with anyone and everyone. She did not know the definition of "stranger."
She was a 1954 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School in Port Royal, PA.
Joanne was an active member of her church, Calvary Bible Church, and lived her life emersed in faith. Without a doubt, Joanne loved her family; including her dog, Misty Mae. During her free time, she enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading, and playing cards. She was proud that she was able to welcome her great-great grandchild before passing away.
For the last 17 years, Joanne has spent her life with Harold E. "Ed" Allen in married bliss. She was an amazing wife, caring mother, and loving grandmother.
In addition to her husband, Joanne is survived by two daughters, Mary Ruth Houtz and husband, Howard, of Lewistown, and Susan Elizabeth "Susie" Morefield of Mechanicsburg; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Including her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her son, Ronald Lane; 3 brothers, and a sister.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Calvary Bible Church, 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown. The memorial service will be begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ethan Druckenmiller officiating.
A private graveside service will take place at [New] Church Hill Cemetery in [Turbett Twp.] Juniata County.
