OBITUARY for MARY R. MCLAUGHLIN

Mary R. McLaughlin, 89, of Port Royal, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025 at William Penn Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lewistown.

Born on December 1, 1935 in Spruce Hill, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Goldie Romaine (Arentz) Hockenberry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. “Charlie” McLaughlin who passed away on July 8, 1995.

She is survived by her son, Roger Hockenberry, and siblings Thomas Hockenberry and wife, Rose, Tony Hockenberry and wife, Ruth, Brenda Boone, Jean Baney and husband, Bill, as well as various nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by siblings Earl “Erk” Hockenberry, Jr. and wife, Beverly, Charles Hockenberry and wife, Betty and brother-in-law Benjamin Boone.

She was a 1954 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School.

Mary worked as a waitress and cook at various restaurants. She attended Port Royal United Methodist Church. She helped with the ladies auxiliary and baked for other people.

A graveside service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown on Friday, October 10th at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

Donations in Mrs. McLaughlin’s memory may be made to the Friendship Fire Company #1, P.O. Box 274, Port Royal, PA 17082 or to the Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 383, Port Royal, PA 17082.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown.
