Blanche Elizabeth TRESSLER TELFER (8 Oct 1906 - 8 Aug 2005) lived most of her adult life at the end of "Town Lane" in Port Royal.

OBITUARY:

BLANCHE ELIZABETH TELFER, 98, Patriots Colony, Williamsburg, VA, and formerly of Town Lane, Port Royal, died Monday, August 8, 2005 at Patriots Colony.

Born October 8, 1906 in New Bloomfield, she was a daughter of the late John William Tressler and Laura Jane (Owings) Tressler.

Her husband, Charles O. Telfer, preceded her in death on March 21, 1958.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Irvin (Nancy) Hess of Williamsburg, VA; a son, Charles W. Telfer of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Douglas and Elizabeth Hess; three great grandchildren, Megan, Meredith and David Hess.

Being the last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank E. Tressler in 1964.

Mrs. Telfer was a 1923 graduate of New Bloomfield High School. She attended Hood College, Frederick, MD from 1923 to 1925. She was a 1927 graduate of Radcliffe College, Cambridge, Mass. with a degree in English Literature.

She was a retired school teacher having taught at the former Airy View High School, Port Royal and at the Newport High School, Newport.

Mrs. Telfer was a member of the Port Royal Presbyterian Church where she served as treasurer for many years.

She was a former member of the Port Royal Literary Guild. She had served as a gray lady at Brookline Manor, RR1 Mifflintown, and had driven for Juniata County Meals on Wheels.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 12 at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal with the Rev. Carol E. Davis officiating. Interment was in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
