Johnathan Packard was born in Cumberland County on January 11, 1830 and died Sept. 13, 1897 near Academia. During the Civil War he enlisted in Company F of the 208th Regiment of Pa. Volunteers on Sept. 1, 1864 and was discharged Sept. 7, 1865. He married Ellen Keiser from near Blain, Perry County on April 24, 1851. Ellen was born on Aug. 8, 1830 and died March 13, 1897. The Packards had ten children: William, Mary, Sarah, Jacob, Rachel, John, Nancy, James, Clara and Charles. Jonathan and Ellen are buried in the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Spruce Hill Township.
