Melvin Charles Frankhouse was a son of Charles David and Jane M. (Meloy) Frankhouse. He was born February 5, 1895 and died November 13, 1977.

He married Isabel Temperance Barton and they had two children, Robert and Phyllis.

OBITUARY for MELVIN CHARLES FRANKHOUSE

MIFFLINTOWN: MELVIN C. FRANKHOUSE, 82, formerly of Port Royal, died Sunday [13 NOV 1977] in Brookline Manor Convalescent Home.

He was born Feb. 5, 1895, in Milford Township, Juniata County, a son of the late Charles and Jennie Meloy Frankhouse. He married the former Isabel Barton who preceded him in death.

Surviving are children, Robert B., Mission Viejo, Ca.; Mrs. Samuel (Phyllis) Gilbert, West Chester; sisters and brothers, Mrs. Roscoe (Martha) Kauffman, Upper Darby; Mrs. Margaret Lyter, Port Royal; Joseph P. Frankhouse, and Fred M. Frankhouse, both of Port Royal; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a veteran of World War I who served in the US Army. He was a member of Port Royal Lutheran Church, and served at various times on the church council. He was a member of Union Lodge 324 Free and Accepted Masons, Mifflintown; Juniata Valley Forest 88, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Juniata County Agricultural Society, American Legion Post 298, Mifflintown; Port Royal Lions Club, and Friendship Fire Company, Port Royal.

Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Dr. Robert W. Suder officiating. Burial will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 10 am Wednesday until the time of the service.
