Born in Port Royal on 24 July 1839, died at Port Royal 14 Nov 1908. His first wife was Mary Catherine Lenhart born 20 Nov 1842 at Perry County, died at Mifflin on 30 April 1880. They married in 1862.
His second wife was Margaret Jane McCahren, born in 1839 and died 1924.

OBITUARIES for JOHN B. MELOY

John B. Meloy died at his home in Turbett Township, Saturday night of last week at about 10:30 after suffering for about 5 hours from a stroke of paralysis. He believed in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man and was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church and Tuscarora Lodge I. O. O. F. Funeral services were held, from his late home at Old Port Royal, Tuesday afternoon in charge of his pastor Reverend I. O. Moser. Interment was made in Church Hill Cemetery. Besides a devoted wife, he leaves four sons and two daughters: Samuel of Harrisburg; Wesley of Altoona; Clarence of Huntingdon; Reverend J. B. Meloy of Iowa; Mrs. Maude Hatterly of Altoona; and Minnie at home. Also three brothers and one sister; Alex and Stewart of Mifflin; E. O. of Milford Township; and Mrs. Percilla Leonard of Iowa. He was aged 69 years, 3 months, and 21 days.

Obit dated November 19, 1908 in Juniata Tribune states that for a number of years he was in the mercantile business at Locust Grove, and after that he conducted a store in Patterson for several years. He then removed to Old Port and for the past few years has assisted in Hertzler's General Store.
