This is a view looking west on Market from Third Street. The first building to the left housed the offices of the Port Royal Times. The Pettit Store is on the right behind the gas street light. The funeral home is partially visible and the tower of the Lutheran Church can be seen just over the top of the trees.

After the completion of the railroad, when commerce moved from Water Street to Market Street, Third and Market was the center of commercial activity for the town.

As of 2009, many of its businesses are closed and it no longer sees the commercial activity that it once experienced.

MARKET STREET COVERED WITH SNOW: Am guessing that the picture was taken about 1965. Before 1967 when the trees were removed from the street. (Photo submitted by D. L. Kepner)

The Juniata Valley Bank building can be seen on the far left of the photo. Next to it is the hardware building. The front of the funeral home can be seen on the right and both the Lutheran and Methodist churches are visible in the distance.

This photo was taken a slight distance further west on Market Street than the other photos. This is how Market appeared in the Spring of 2009.
