OBITUARY for ELONA T. SHIRK

Elona T. Shirk, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at her home near Port Royal.

Born January 30, 1933, in York, PA, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Martha (Smith) Thompson. Her husband, James Y. Shirk, whom she married May 28, 1955, passed away September 26, 2014. Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Tammy J. Shirk, sister, Sonia Bennett, and two brothers, Robert Thompson and Thomas Thompson.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald J. Shirk and wife, Huyen, and Glenn D. Shirk, all of Port Royal, four grandchildren, Aaron J. Shirk (Janice), Caleb A. Shirk (Emily), Nathan R. Shirk (Jennifer), and Alexandria L. Laughman, and nine great-grandchildren, Jovane Felix-Verdugo, Aaron Shirk, Jr., Jasmine Shirk, Alanna Shirk, James Shirk, John Shirk, Ryan Shirk, Addilyn Laughman and Ashtyn Laughman.

Elona was an active member within her beloved church family at Faith Bible Church, Port Royal.

Over her years, she enjoyed the gift of hospitality, reading, traveling, doing puzzles and ceramics, mastering her iPad and connecting on Facebook. Each springtime, she looked forward to and greatly enjoyed caring for and looking at her beautiful flower blossoms and garden. One of her greatest joys and gifts was her devoted dedication, prayer support, and love for all her family.

There will be a graveside committal service and interment on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 10 AM at New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, immediately followed by a visitation from 11AM until 12 noon at Faith Bible Church, 317 East 4th Street, Port Royal and a memorial service at 12 PM noon at the church with Rev. Dr. Glen Webb and Pastor Brent Knepp, officiating.
