OBITUARY for RITA A. SHOOP

Rita A. Shoop, 59, of Port Royal, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.

Born on October 19, 1963, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is the daughter of the late Harry M. Sr. and Marion M. (Sheetz) Ulsh.

On January 18, 2003, she married her surviving husband, Larry “Randy” Shoop with whom she was blessed to over 20 years of marriage before her passing.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, David Barnes and his companion Heather of New Oxford; one daughter, Erin Shoop of Port Royal; one step-daughter, Beth Harlan and her husband Steve of East Waterford; one sister, Carrie Stadelmaier of Pottstown; two brothers, Andrew Ulsh and his wife Lori of Niceville, FL and Chester McCormick and his wife Cathy of McSherrystown; two grandsons, Zayden Huff and Dax Barnes; one step-grandson, Lucas Harlan; and several generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harry M. Ulsh, Jr.

Rita was a 1981 graduate of Juniata High School in Mifflintown and was employed by Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as a Pharmacy Tech.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and playing bingo.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Mike Ennist officiating. Interment will be private at East Waterford Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Shoop’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 862, Carnegie, PA 15106-0862
