Harry Shindle Deen was born to Samuel Crawford Deen (1848-1928) and Mary E Woodward (1855-1930) on December 23, 1883. He married Gertrude Elizabeth Groninger on November 11, 1908. They had four children, John, Robert, Ruth and Harry Jr. They lived at the corner of 4th and Market Streets across from the Lutheran Church, of which they were members. Harry was a long-time Rural Free Delivery mail carrier. He died December 14, 1973 in Mifflintown.
