OBITUARY for BENJAMIN C. ‘BEN’ PHILLIPS

PORT ROYAL — Benjamin C. “Ben” Phillips, 59, of RR 1, Box 2994, Port Royal, died Tuesday Evening, April 4, 2006, at his home.

Born March 5, 1947, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Myron O. and Edith (Snyder) Phillips. His wife, Renate (Hausladen) Phillips, of RR 1, Box 2994, Port Royal, survives.

He is also survived by four daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Diana) Reef, Roy, Wash., Donna J. Phillips, Winchester, Va., Mrs. David (Debbra) Quinn, Yelm, Wash., Mrs. Scott (Sandra) Wherley, Marysville, Wash.; two brothers, Joseph M. Phillips, RR 2, Port Royal, Larry A. Phillips, RR 1, McAlisterville; three sisters, Mrs. William (Bonnie C.) McCurry, Burnham, Mary Louise Gutshall, Mifflintown, Mrs. Allan (Amy Lynne) Schwoyer, Harrisburg; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He retired with 20 years of service as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army. He served as a mess Sergeant. He was currently employed as head of security for Empire Kosher Poultry Inc., Mifflintown. He was a Vietnam veteran and a 1964 graduate of the Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal.

He was a member of the Port Royal Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal, with the Rev. Carol E. Davis officiating.

A viewing will be held Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

Memorial donations may be made to the Port Royal Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 387, Port Royal, PA 17082, or to the Port Royal Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 265, Port Royal, PA 17082.
