OBITUARY for Lucille V. "Sis" (McCahren) Cooper

Lucille V. "Sis" (McCahren) Cooper, 89, of Port Royal, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born Dec. 9, 1926, in Spruce Hill Township, she was the daughter of the late William "Bill" and Katherine (Towsey) McCahren. Her husband, Edwin C. "Ned" Cooper, whom she married Nov. 20, 1944, died on April 1, 2000.

She is survived by four children, Francis L. Cooper and wife, Jane, of Winter Haven, Fla., Gary E. Cooper of Sedro-Woolley, Wash., Patti S. Cooper of Mechanicsburg, and Jo Anne Cooper of Tiffin, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Virginia Cooper, Clifford Cooper, Lora Jeter, Anita Wagner, Chad Cooper, Staci Kirschner, Paul Cox, Bryan Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Joseph Cooper, Melanie Gifford, and Rachael Cooper; 24 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Jane Cooper in 1957 and two brothers, William McCahren and Richard McCahren.

She graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1944 and worked as a clerk, retiring from Letterkenny Army Depot.

She was a member of the NARF Club and Spruce Hill Grange.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, her pets, and attending craft shows. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her husband, when he was alive.

Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Rev. Frank Swartz officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.
There will be a viewing on Friday, Dec. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
