PORT ROYAL: OTHO C. BRACKBILL, 80, of RR 1, Port Royal, went lovingly into the arms of his Lord at 10:55 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Locust Grove Retirement Village.

Born June 12, 1925, in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Jess W. and Della (Swartz) Brackbill. His wife, Betty (Paige) Brackbill, of RR 1 Port Royal, whom he married Nov. 22, 1947, survives.

Also surviving are his children, Dennis C. Brackbill, of RR 1, Port Royal, Mrs. John (Tena) Kauffman, of RR 1, Mifflintown; two sisters, Mrs. John (Jessie) Fairman, RR 3, Mifflintown, Mrs. Donald (Alma) Husler, Mifflintown; four grandchildren, Chad Kauffman, Troy and Craig Brackbill, Billy Newman and two great-grandsons, Aiden Brackbill and Jack Newman.

He was preceded in death by a son, Davy Otho Brackbill; two sisters and two brothers.

He was a retired painter, having worked for John E. Groninger Inc., Mexico, for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a member of the Matamoras United Methodist Church and was also a trustee of the church for many years and loved singing in the church choir. he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, trapping, woodcrafts and picking huckleberries on the mountain.

His funeral service will be held Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Kitzmiller. Interment will be in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

Friends may call Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rex Funeral Home, but the family will only be present on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

Memorials may be made to the Matamoras United Methodist Church, RR 1, Box 355, Port Royal, PA 17082.
