OBITUARY for BETTY L. LOVE

PORT ROYAL - Betty L. Love, 68, of Port Royal, died at 11:37 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born Nov. 22, 1943, in Lack Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Clair A. and Helen M. (Whitebread) Kirk. On April 19, 1975, she married her surviving husband, Melvin E. 'Mel' Love, with whom she shared more than 36 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her children, Pamela M. Pray and her husband, David, David L. Kellison and his wife, Michelle, all of Port Royal, Michael E. Love and his wife, Michelle, of Mifflintown; siblings, Bruce Kirk and his wife, Roma, of Port Royal; Audrey Hunker, Gary Kirk, Norma Leach and her husband, Joe, all of Mifflintown; a sister-in-law, Faye Kirk, of Shermans Dale; she leaves behind, seven grandchildren, Erin Pray, Nathan Pray, Kaylee Kellison, Emalee Kellison, Kristen Pray, Laetitia Love, Cole Kellison; one great-grandson Brycen Watton; and many nieces and nephews.

One brother, Donald Kirk; and two sisters, Becky Rowles and Lana Kirk, in infancy, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Love was a 1961 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and a member of the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 298 Ladies Auxiliary, both of Mifflintown.

She retired in 2007, after many years as a cook and custodian, for the Juniata County School District.

Betty's hobbies included bird watching, playing Bingo, playing the lottery, watching TV, putting together puzzles, going to Ocean City on vacation and going to their cabin on the weekends. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren participate in their many sporting events and other activities.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Charles Hershberger officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

Viewing will be from 68 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at the funeral home.
