OBITUARY for NEAL STUART GILSON

NEAL S. GILSON, 87, of Port Royal RD2, died at 6:32 a.m. Thursday, June 1, [1989] at Lewistown Hospital.

Born June 17, 1901 in Spruce Hill, he was a son of the late William Boyd Laird and Annie [McCoy) Gilson. His wife, Violet M. [Leonard] Gilson, whom he married June 5, 1923, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Neal S. Gilson Jr., Port Royal RD2, Margaret G. Crawford, Harrisburg; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

He was a graduate of Shippensburg State University.

He was a teacher in the Juniata County schools, retiring in 1967 and was also a farmer.

He was a member of the Port Royal Presbyterian Church, and former elder of the church.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Robert G. Campbell officiating.

Interment was in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
