Jeremiah was the son of John Jacob and Hannah (Zimmerman) Frankhouser. He was born January 16, 1834 and died August 4, 1887. He was married to Elizabeth Nevin Pomeroy. Jeremiah and Elizabeth had eight children: Joseph, Adrienne, Eleanoe, Elizabeth, Mary, Charles, William and Agnes.
Jeremiah left Pennsylvania to travel through Indian territory with his own horse to the Kansas Territory to fight on the Union side to help make sure that Kansas did not come in to the Union as a slave state.
