OBITUARY for KATHRYN J. DEEN RYAN

Kathryn J. Ryan, 77, of Lower Paxton Township, PA, passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at home, after a long battle with breast cancer.

Born September 25, 1932 in Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Wiliiam and Sara (Dentler) Deen.

Her husband D. Jerry Ryan, from Altoona, whom she married May 31, 1959, and after 45 years of marriage, preceded her in death on August 5, 2004.

Surviving are: a daughter, Kellie R. Fresolone and husband George of Wilmington, DE; a son, Kevin D. Ryan and wife Kelly Clark-Ryan of Harrisburg', a sister, Roma D. Barry of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Patrick Fresolone, Aaron Fresolone, Owen Fresolonoe and Elizabeth Ryan.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Richard Deen, and an infant brother William Deen.

Kathryn attended a one-room grade school in Spruce Hill Township, and graduated from the former Tuscarora Valley High School in Port Royal, with the class of 1949 with 18 graduating members.

She also graduated from the KenDelle School of Cosmetology in Harrisburg.

A former beautician she worked at the former Hllda’s Beauty Salon and the former Schleisner's Beauty Salon. She retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue as a clerical supervisor.

Mrs. Ryan was a member of the Colonial Park Community Baptist Church and its American Baptist Women's group and Sunday School, where she was active in many capacities there.

She was a former volunteer with the “Reach to Recovery Program” with the American Cancer Society and was a former volunteer usher at Hershey Community Theater.

Kathryn was a homemaker and enjoyed her home, cooking and caring for her family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 14, 10 a.m. in the Colonial Park Community Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Firster officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in lndiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 13 in the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. PA 17109.
